A Chance Meeting in Mount Pleasant

A Chance Meeting in Mount Pleasant

A neighbourhood with a view.

Walking home from Kingsgate Mall this morning, I was struck by the clear, wintery view of the city and of the mountains covered in snow. I often appreciate how wonderful it is to see the Vancouver cityscape from the streets of my neighbourhood. I don’t need to have this view from my house, because I see it every time I step ...

Why I Chose A Nissan Leaf

January 13th, 2015

Last year, I bought a new car.  A 2014 Nissan Leaf.

It's cute, it fits my family of four, it has bluetooth, a backup camera, a map, it connects to my iphone, AND it is 100% electric and greenhouse gas emissions free!

I love this car.

I've been concerned about my carbon footprint and it feels amazing to drive all over the city of Vancouver selling real estate and NOT contributing to climate ...

Mary Cleaver presents.... Urban/Suburban

April 24th, 2014
I understand there used to be a very popular real estate TV show with this title. The plot was set around a couple with a fixed budget and a real estate agent showing them what that figure can buy in the city, versus somewhere further out.

If you follow my blog, or listings, you probably know that I do most of my business within the Vancouver city limits.

Have you seen that my latest listing, at 2262 Clark Drive was featured in the news?

The Wealthy Barber

October 16th, 2013

…. spoke at a real estate board event last week and I was lucky enough to be in attendance.

If you don’t know this book, perhaps you know its author, David Chilton from  CBC’s The Dragon’s Den.

I read The Wealthy Barber when I was 20 years old. Evidently, I’m in good company - it’s one of the biggest selling Canadian books of all time.

David (yes, we’re on a first name basis now!) ...

New Mortgage Rules

July 19th, 2013
As you may know, the federal government introduced new rules for mortgage finance meant to help reign in the growing personal debt taken on by Canadian households. We could debate the reasoning, or the effectiveness of these changes but the bottom line is that on July 9th, it became a little more difficult to afford to purchase a home for many Canadians.

First, a quick overview of the changes. ...

The (Great?) Debate

May 1st, 2013
Watching the televised Provincial Leaders Debate this week has got me thinking about everything but real estate!

I participated in a focus group on Monday night. Along with 34 strangers, I watched the debate and recorded in real time whether or not I was persuaded by the arguments presented by the candidates.

When it was over, we split into groups (male and female) to discuss our impressions ...
